The Fae

even as a young child, I was obsessed with fairies. I would often go out into my aunt's flower beds to look for them, and imagine that if I sat quietly for long enough they would hear me. when I astral traveled as a child, I encountered many creatures that I believe were most likely fae, and thank the stars that beings were watching over me to prevent me from getting hurt.

the fae come in so many different forms and from so many different regions. my first primary experiences though were with the irish fae, the aos sí. during the more eclectic period of my pagan path, I worked a lot with the irish pantheon, specifically the tuatha de danaan. it was they who guided me to start working with them, and to expand my spirit work in that direction.

the fae are one of the only groups I don't generally astral travel to interact with. I find that most of them dislike close spiritual contact with humans, and should ideally be worked with from a distance. as such, I work with them via offerings and rituals. I leave offerings where I can to show good will, things like honey, small pastries, and berries. when the response is good, then I am able to request and harness their energy for spells.

I do also have fae entities in my spirit family - however, these are very special cases of fae who had a strong desire to be alongside humans, and accepted a vessel in order to fulfill that desire. there are witches and spirit workers in the world who exclusively do fae magick and work often with such fae, but these are people with a lot of experience and knowledge. I do not recommend seeking out a fae to inhabit a vessel in this way unless you are very experienced and 100% know what you're doing.

regardless, the fae in my family are very special to me. they are often very strong guardians, manifesters, and energy generators, filling the home with light and natural energy. this is something that I can encounter on a smaller scale from fae out in the world as well, doing spells to bring in a little bit of fae energy and to manifest certain outcomes in life.

fae magick can be risky if you don't know what you're doing, and I'm grateful to have had some guidance when I started getting into it. I have a lot of fondness and respect for the fae, and I always appreciate the types of energy they lend to my practice.
