Divination
after getting into basic spellwork, divination was one of the first things I really got invested in. like many, tarot cards were one of the first things I explored, and I immediately was drawn to the wide variety of decks out there and the many ways of reading and interpreting.
I had no money for a long time, and therefore no way of getting myself my own tarot deck. so, I made do, and would do readings using an app I had that would do digital card pulls. I spent a lot of time in a witch and pagan forum online at the time, and did readings for people there in my spare time. at first I didn't have large confidence in my own abilities, but the obtaining of my first tarot deck changed that a lot.
I still remember it incredibly vividly - a member of the forum sent me a private message saying they thought I was incredibly talented and a ton of potential, and they wanted me to have my own deck to use. they told me to add any deck I wanted to an amazon wishlist and they would buy it for me.
it overjoyed me and still warms my heart to this day the kindness that they showed me and their want to invest in my path. that was how I obtained my first tarot deck, and I began to practice almost every day. I did readings for myself, for forum members, and for other college students, and quickly grew in my confidence and discovered my own personal style of reading. tarot was a big helper in the shadow work I did during this time as well.
for a long time tarot was the primary form of divination I did. however, as I began to settle into myself as a death witch, I discovered the art of bone throwing/osteomancy, and this was a new endeavor that really changed the way I did readings.
I ended up putting a lot of effort into obtaining ethically sourced bones (due to living in an area that didn't allow for me to find them naturally) and filling my set with other unique charms and trinkets. osteomancy is very intimate in that your set is unique to you, and you interact with it based on your personal meanings, style, and path. I fell in love with my set, and spent a ton of time bonding with it, assigning meanings to each piece, and getting into reading with it.
divination has always come very naturally to me. aside from being clairsentient, I have a very strong natural intuition, and harnessing this and believing in my own power allowed me to progress very far and very quickly. I love divination still, and enjoy doing readings for other people and helping them with theirs! aside from my osteomancy set, my current tool of choice is the true black tarot deck. it has gorgeous artwork that I feel really matches the direction my path has taken, and I really enjoy working with it.
