Astral Travel
astral travel is, in short, the practice of separating your spiritual self from your body and using it to travel the "astral." the astral is though of generally as the spiritual plane, where spirits reside and where you can travel between locations, worlds, and planes to talk to them.
astral travel always came very naturally to me even from childhood. it was something I did without thinkinh, before even knowing there were words for what I did. I think if it weren't for my patrons and certain entities watching out for me, I would have gotten in huge spiritual trouble as a child from all the traveling I did.
as such, I feel incredibly comfortable in the astral and with using it to interact with spirits. it's my preferred way to interact with my spirit family, and with beings I am trying to directly contact. it allows me to perform spells, rituals, and other tasks in a more powerful way, by existing outside of my body and harnessing more raw personal power.
I've come to a point where I no longer have to be silently meditating to be able to travel. I'm able to do it during any repetitive task, especially long slow periods at work, which is a great help for me personally. it means I can be there for my spirit family even when I am not physically around them, and that I can attend to their needs even while gone. it allows me to work on spells and rituals while out of the house, and to get things done spiritually even when I don't have the spoons to leave my bed.
overall, the astral is a big outlet for my current work, and I'm very happy with the things it allows me to do. as someone physically and mentally disabled, I'm rarely able to physically get up to do in depth rituals and sessions anymore - this is a way that I can continue to be active in my practice in spite of that.
